COVID-19 Announcement:

High Sierra Prime Timers, Reno chapter of Prime Timers Worlwide is following all social distancing and stay-at-home requirements from the State of Nevada Office of the Governor, Steve Sisolak. We hope that everyone stays healthy and safe during the quarantine, practice social distancing when taking care of essential services, and keeping your sanity in check.

Please help each other out by giving a call to check how everyone is doing and shooting the breeze. We will announce as soon as we can when any semblance of normalcy returns and we can once again meet for socializing together. Pass the time at home, stay in touch, and remember, we all are in this together.

Welcome to High Sierra Prime Timers – the Reno, Nevada Chapter of Prime Timers Worldwide.

Who We Are

High Sierra Prime Timers-Reno was founded in early 2000. We are a Chapter of Prime Timers Worldwide; an organization that provides social and educational opportunities for mature gay/bisexual men and their admirers from age 21. Our membership includes residents from the Reno-Sparks-Carson City area.

Our chapter holds weekly luncheons on Mondays from 1-2 pm. Business meetings follow lunches on the second week of each month. HSPT also hosts potluck dinners and two special occasion events each year, an Anniversary Luncheon and Christmas Dinner.

Day trips to locations in Northern Nevada and Northern California are arranged for our members and are highlights each year. Attendance at local Reno cultural events are routinely shared by the membership. We also publish a monthly newsletter, the High Sierra Sidelines, which reports on the activities of the chapter. Archived copies are included on the website.

The “Biggest Little City in The World” is a vibrant center of activities that suit every taste. The region now boasts a population of over 500,000 in this rapidly growing area of Northern Nevada.

Casinos are just one of the great things about Reno. There is a wide array of excellent restaurants and bars, in addition to many entertainment venues in an ever-expanding arts community. In addition, the University of Nevada, Reno, provides its own schedule of concerts and sporting events featuring its athletic teams.

Major events occurring annually include the National Championship Air Races, the Great Balloon Race, the Best of the West Rib Cook Off, Hot August Nights for antique car enthusiasts and the Reno Rodeo, one of the largest rodeos in the nation.

Artown, sponsored by the Nevada Arts Council, is a month-long festival held each July, and features daily public events; including visual art displays, concerts, dance programs, tours and lectures. Most of these events are free of charge.

Northern Nevada Pride, sponsored by OUR Center (the local LGBTQ headquarters), is also held in July and includes a parade and festival held at Wingfield Park on the Truckee River. The HSPT is a proud participant.

The HSPT hosted the Prime Timers Worldwide Convention here in 2007. The highly successful event included a gathering of more than 350 members.

Our website includes several pages containing important details about the organization and a membership application that can be printed out and mailed for those interested in joining the HSPT.

If you live in Reno, are preparing to move to our region or are merely contemplating a visit, please let us know. Join us for lunch; meet our members and find out more about our organization! The welcome mat is always out!
